Five Signs Your Girlfriend Is a Loser
Relationships can be a wonderful addition to your life. Unfortunately, depending on whom you’re dating, they can be a disastrous addition to your life. If you’re on your way to becoming the person you’ve always wanted to become, you need to make sure you don’t have anyone in your life who’s holding you back. You deserve a chance to chase after the success you’ve been aspiring to without any interference from your significant other. In fact, your girlfriend should be a key supporter on your path to success. If she’s holding you back, it’s time to rethink things in a big way.
She Doesn’t Contribute to the Relationship
Your girlfriend should contribute to the relationship just as much as you do. Contributing to the relationship can mean many different things to different people. Simply put, your girlfriend should be supportive of you in times when you need it, just like you support her when she needs it. Your girlfriend should also contribute financially on a level that’s fair. Even if she can’t afford to take you out for dinner half the time, she should at least take you out for dinner some of the time.
She Blames You for Her Problems
It’s nearly impossible to date someone without baggage, especially as you get older. However, your girlfriend shouldn’t make you carry all her baggage. And, she certainly shouldn’t blame you when her baggage gets heavy. Your girlfriend’s problems are her own and, though you should help her wherever you reasonably can, you shouldn’t feel pressured to fix all her problems for her. You are her significant other, not her therapist. In fact, you’re not likely qualified to be her therapist. Furthermore, a person who blames others for their issues demonstrates a fundamental lack of accountability. In a long-term relationship, you need someone who takes accountability for their share of the problems.
The Grass Is Consistently Greener on the Other Side
Sometimes, the grass really is greener on the other side. But, if a person demonstrates a consistent lack of ability to be happy with what they have, that’s a huge red flag. It may be tempting to strive to make your significant other happy. However, if they’re always looking for the next best thing, that happiness might be very short lived. And, you don’t want to get burned out trying to make another person happy. People who believe the grass is always greener on the other side tend to have a hard time finding happiness within themselves. You do not want to be the sole source of someone else’s happiness.
She’s Not Emotionally Independent
Your girlfriend should be emotionally independent. She shouldn’t require your attention and affection 24/7. Furthermore, she should have her own hobbies and interests that she’s excited and passionate about, and she should have her own friends or support group in addition to you. You should never be the center of another person’s world, no matter what your relationship to them is. And, you should never be with someone who threatens to harm themselves if you leave them. You should feel free to leave the relationship at any time without worrying about your significant other guilting you.
She’s Not Your Biggest Fan
Your girlfriend should be supportive of your goals and what you’re striving for. And, she shouldn’t just tell you she supports you, she should take deliberate steps toward helping you achieve the success you’ve always wanted. In a healthy relationship, two people strive to motivate each other and push each other to succeed. If you feel like your girlfriend isn’t motivating you to seek the success you’ve been searching for, it may be time to move on.
